Editing Philosophy
I’ve honed my editing techniques over the past 15 years. Now, I am focusing on my people skills. I listen. I offer. I pivot.
I listen some more.
Consultation
The process starts with clearly defined objectives. A short video (or in-person!) chat about your story will help us BOTH figure out if we're a good working fit.
Edit
The edit stage is where I do my magic. I take your objectives and work through your manuscript checking to see if you've hit the mark, or if you need some guidance to get back on track.
Review
At this point in the process I ask you to reflect on the changes I’ve made or suggested, and whether you’re satisfied with the results.
"I’ve been going over your comments, and I’m overwhelmed by the clever insights and detailed breakdowns you’ve given me here! This is amazing, and I can see how much went into it. From the bottom of my heart, thank you!”
– Jane Kalmes, mystery author (The Black Rose Murders)
Testimonials
Happy writers
"I find it hard to step back from my story and see the big picture.
Becca’s chapter-by-chapter summary of my book was extremely helpful—it helped me see the story I’d actually put on the page as opposed to the story that’s in my head.”
– unpublished mystery author
The goal is to help YOU find your way through, from draft to publication.
