I will meticulously review your manuscript for typographical errors (spelling, and punctuation), including any issues with grammar or usage, and visual errors (widows/orphans/rivers, consistency of mechanics of style in tables, figures, lists, and headings).

Deliverable will be a finalized Word document or PDF with tracked revisions so that you can review all the changes that have been made.

We will meet as often as you need, to discuss your current project, future projects, writing habits, and writing woes. I may offer my expertise in the form of project management, story coaching, or software hacking in order to help you become more productive, more confident, and better organized.

E-book file setup

$100–$250 per manuscript

If you need ARCs for beta readers, are ready to publish (finally!), or you have a series you'd like to bundle into a box set. This is what you want.

I will turn your manuscript into a professional book with a clickable table of contents, all the typesetting goodness (chapter headings, drop caps, etc.), appropriate margins, page numbers, and attention to orphans and widows.

Deliverable will be ready for Amazon KDP (Kindle), IngramSpark, Lulu, Kobo, Apple Books, and other platforms.

In a half an hour we can talk about your writing goals and your current project, and I can lay out the best course of action for you (i.e., which service will help you achieve the most forward progress).

Developmental editing

$1000–$2500 per manuscript

If you’re stuck, can't find your way forward, but have no problem writing. This is what you want.

I will suggest plot, pacing, character, and story structure revisions based on author needs. I may include some of the following: a chapter-by-chapter analysis, a reverse outline of your manuscript, a list of comparable titles, a structural analysis based on the Saves the Cat! story structure guide.

All deliverables will be packaged into a comprehensive Editorial Note that highlights actionable revisions and next steps for the author.

line & copy editing

$1000–$2500 per manuscript

If you're done drafting, feel good about your story, but want to be sure it's not boring or repetitive. This is what you want.

I will edit sentence structure and word choice, suggesting changes to awkward phrasing, inconsistent voice, loose dialogue, and paragraph pacing. I will also edit the grammar, punctuation, and syntax; ensuring consistency in spelling, hyphenation, numerals, fonts, and capitalization. If there are story inconsistencies for characters, locations, and objects of importance, I will be sure to make comments. I may also create a style guide for your manuscript if desired.

All edits will bring the text in line with the latest editions of The Chicago Manual of Style and Merriam-Webster’s Collegiate Dictionary, the two references preferred by most publishers.
